Tree Surveys for planning

If you are applying for planning permission, and trees are present within or in close proximity to the site, a tree survey in accordance with BS5837:2012 ‘Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction' will be required. Our tree surveys comply with these requirements and are suitable for planning purposes. A tree survey plan will also be produced using the ‘auto-Cad’ system resulting in a high quality, accurate plan.

Tree Condition Survey

We undertake tree inspections to access a trees physical and structural condition. Our tree safety surveys will identify hazardous trees with potential defects and make recommendations for the future management of the tree or trees as a result of the inspection. This will reduce or remove the risk of failure. This can be applied to a single tree, a group of trees or even a woodland. Tree work can also be arranged as a result of the inspections.

Decay Detection Service

At AJ Monk Consulting, decay detection in trees is an important part of our work. We can measure the internal structure of a tree with the use of the ‘Picus Sonic Tomograph’ which is a sophisticated piece of equipment which sends sound waves through the stem of a tree. The interpretation of the results can then be used to determine recommendations for the future management of the tree to either reduce or remove the risk of tree failure. This service is usually the recommendation of an initial tree condition survey.

Pre–development Reports

Further to a British Standard Tree Survey, we can provide Constraints advice and plan, an implications assessment, Method Statements and a Tree Protection Plan. These reports are usually required for planning purposes by the local authority as part of a planning application.
